How to Choose an Osteopath in Tonbridge

Anyone can call themselves a therapist, but 'osteopath' is a protected title in the UK. Here is what to look for before you book.

Check the register first

Every UK osteopath must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). You can search the register free of charge at osteopathy.org.uk. Registration confirms recognised training, current insurance and a professional code of conduct.

Ask about experience with your problem

A practitioner who treats your particular complaint regularly will usually get to the point faster. Ask directly how often they see it and what results they typically expect.

Questions worth asking on the phone

How long is the first appointment? What does treatment cost, and are follow-ups the same? How many sessions do you expect I'll need? What happens if I'm not improving?

A good answer to the last question is always the same: you get referred on. Osteopathy is not right for every problem.

Clinic or home visit

A clinic has equipment and easy parking for some. A home visit suits anyone in pain, without transport, with young children, or living in the villages around Tonbridge where travelling for a 45-minute appointment simply isn't practical.
